Mt. Airy Art Garage Turns 10!

A Mt. Airy hub for local artists celebrates a big milestone with a holiday art market.

Who could imagine in November 2009, at Weavers Way Garage on Carpenter Lane, the Mt. Airy Art Garage (MAAG) would one day be celebrating our 10th Anniversary Holiday Art Market? It is true that MAAG has gone through changes over these years-expansion and contraction, building a home, losing our home, waiting for our new place – all while operating a Gallery & Gift Shop at 6622 Germantown Avenue. However, the quality of fine art and handcrafts created by local artists has not diminished. It continues to grow with more artists coming forward.

In addition, we have grown to offer extensive community projects/partnerships at Houston and Emlen Elementary Schools in Mt. Airy, the Mt. Airy Playground, a student exhibit in Lovett Library, the first Philly LGBTQ Pride Festival in Mt. Airy, the Philadelphia Theatre Company and the Fabric Workshop Museum. We also offer an ongoing Photo Club and are revamping Drawing From Live Models sessions.

We are happy to announce that this year’s Holiday Art Market is in partnership with the Mt. Airy Custom Furniture group at 7054 Germantown Avenue. This is a perfect space with a lovely storefront and over 6,000 square feet to fill to the brim with beautiful creations. So far, our early registrations include the work of amazing woodworkers, painters, photographers, jewelers, leather craft, fiber arts, mixed media artists, handcrafted soaps and body creams and more. Your purchases and support goes to local artisans in our community. As in years past, we will feature local musicians and offer refreshments.

The weekend event is free and open to the public, a fun family celebration for the holidays. Join us.
