Come out for a cocktail party/silent auction among books and historic architecture.
Feeling a bit cooped up as winter drags on? Looking for a way to break winter’s monotony?
Join friends and neighbors for a relaxed and friendly evening of lively conversation, wine, music, desserts and a silent auction in the elegant setting of the historic Falls of Schuylkill Library.
The event is the 2019 Winter Interlude sponsored by the Friends of the Falls of Schuylkill Library. It will take place Saturday, February 23, from 7:30 – 9:30PM at the Library, Midvale Ave and Warden Drive. Proceeds from the event, which is held every other year, go to support Library programs.
“This is a wonderful community event bringing people together to socialize and at the same time support a good cause,” said Anne Hagele, co-chair of the evening (with Peggy Gertz).
The wine bar will include champagne and sparkling wines. Desserts made by East Falls neighbors promise to be a taste sensation. Music will be provided by well-known pianist Barbara Browne.
The silent auction will include a wide array of interesting and unique items — everything from lessons and services, tickets to events and cultural attractions, gift certificates, hotel stays, vacation home stays, and more. All have been donated in support of the Library.
“This will be an exciting evening. Everyone is invited and we hope everyone will come,” Gertz said.
Tickets are $15 if purchased by February 21 and $20 at the door. Checks made payable to the Friends of the Falls of Schuylkill Library may be dropped off or mailed to the Library, 3501 Midvale Ave, Philadelphia PA 19129.
