Spring cleaning is so old school. These days, all the cool kids Spring GREEN — it’s a thing! Recycle your gently-used children’s items into cash for extra fun this Summer.

Help out good folks in our community and give the environment a hand, too.  Sell some stuff, buy some stuff — young local families especially love this opportunity to “trade out” what their kids have outgrown for an older kid’s novel toys, books, clothing & furniture.

The weather’s supposed to be awesome this weekend, what a great way to enjoy an afternoon with neighbors in a beautiful garden. Home-made baked goods and other refreshments, too (rumor has it the Pastor’s gunning for hotdogs).

Best part of this deal?  No matter what you lug down, there’s no need to schlep it back home: items left behind will be gratefully accepted by “Cradles to Crayons” (of Philadelphia), a local resource for families in need, as well as a civic organization dedicated to changing lives for low-income children.

Fun Facts:  1 – this church is the only Native American Presbyterian church in the entire state, and 2 – the first East Falls Presbyterian Children’s Sale was a fundraiser for a 2014 mission trip, their first (and so far only) trip out there. In all, twenty-nine parishioners undertook a focused week of service & construction projects, plus made time for cultural and spiritual celebration together.

The Spirit Lake Tribe (aka “Dakota Sioux“) has a fascinating history documented in the intense & revealing PBS film “The Kind Hearted Woman,” which shows day-to-day life on the reservation through one woman’s very personal struggle. East Falls Presbyterian Church strives to help through service and donations, and also by spreading the word about injustices still going on here today.
