Green Acres in East Falls

A whole new East Falls’ farmer’s market takes “seasonal” to the next level in 2017.

More vendors, more variety, plus events! Kids, dogs, bikes, pop-ups — whatever it takes to create “a real destination.” Opening day was such a fantastic day of shopping — plenty of buzz to last throughout the season.

TAKE THE SURVEY! Interested Farmer’s Market planners and vendors — provide your contact info at the end of the survey, or email us and we’ll get you in the loop.

(Original Post June 1, 2016) East Falls Farmer’s Market is back! Fresh seasonal produce, starting Saturday June 4th thru the end of November.

Every Saturday, All Summer Long (Fall too) — farm-fresh, seasonal flowers, veggies & fruit in East Falls, under the Twin Bridges from 10 am to 2 pm.

Coming via GPS? Plug in 4100 Ridge Avenue, and pull in when you see our long-legged bridges (the Route 1/Roosevelt Blvd overpass) between Kelly Drive & Ridge Avenue.

About the Market

2016 is the Market’s 4th year under the bridges (the East Falls Development Corporation has managed a farmer’s market since 2004, but had to move it from the previous location on Midvale when the land next to the Baptist Church was sold).

The market is a partnership between the Development Corporation and Farm to City (a Center City-based firm that brings together communities and farmers).  The market offers two produce vendors (and possibly more as the season goes on):

The McCann Farm

Founded in 1951 in Monroeville NJ, this family-run operation offers a wide range of organic fruits and vegetables, from asparagus to zucchini. And of course, Jersey tomatoes and corn. The McCanns can also be found at the Gorgas Park farmer’s market in Roxborough on Fridays.

Crooked Row Farm

Owner Liz Wagner describes Crooked Row Farm as a “small, chemical-free, lady-run vegetable farm in the Lehigh Valley” (Tripoli, PA). Her specialty is exotic vegetables: heirloom tomatoes, Asian greens, hot peppers, and old world eggplants.  Her new project this year involves culinary and medicinal herbs. She also grows her own tea blends.

  1. Is there a CSA associated with the farmers market? I’d love to be able to pick up a box weekly or biweekly of seasonal goods.

  2. Hello, my name is Wendy Tucker and I am the chef and owner of Jamboys Gelato and ice Cream. I am interested in being a vendor at your farmer’s market. How do I apply?
    Thank you,

    • Hi Wendy, sorry about the late response — we’re not the Market’s organizers, just fans! You can contact Julia Margulies at jamargulies@gmail.com, still some nice weather left would love to see more yumminess.

  3. Hi- Is it possible to set up a small table to get a petition signed at the market? I have a petition asking local politicians to stop SEPTA from constructing a polluting power power plant on the border of East Falls, close to Wissahickon and Roberts Ave, at SEPTA’s Midvale complex, next to their bus depot.

If I would be allowed to set up the table, is there a fee? How do I find out?

    Thank you!
    Lynn

    • Sounds like a great way to reach the community! Right now, the Farmers Market organizers are not charging fees so I’m pretty sure it’d be cool to just show up but to make sure, contact the organizer Julia Margulies at jamargulies@gmail.com.
