EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Chef Alex Garfinkel of Fishtown’s “Balboa Supper Club” creates a special menu of small plates paired with select craft brews & specialty cocktails from the popular East Falls Beer Garden.

Live music and awesome views for approximately 250 lucky diners for this ticketed event promoted locally via EastFallsLocal.com, The Local newspaper, PhillyFunGuide.com, as well as social media and various community PR sources.

The Local hosted 350+ guests at last year’s East Falls Oktoberfest — we look forward to building on that success with this exciting, one-of-a-kind event.

WHO’S WHO:

Chef Alex/Balboa: Alex Garfinkel specializes in fresh, creative dishes with seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients. Since 2013, he’s experimented with the supperclub concept, usually pairing with a bar or lounge and more recently at Balboa, his own location in Fishtown/Kensington.

Balboa’s supper clubs have been so popular, chef Alex seeks to expand to new neighborhoods. With this event, he’d like to showcase his food and promote his summer schedule for Balboa.

East Falls Beer Garden: Everyone’s favorite beer garden goes upscale for chef Alex’s gourmet menu! EF local and industry veteran Megan Keel provides hand-picked pours for every palate. She’ll work closely with chef Alex to create a menu that highlights and harmonizes food with drink.

Jonathan Kennedy:  An East Falls local for more than 10 years, “JK” is a fixture in neighborhood hospitality, and chef Alex’s right-hand man. He’s integral in promotion and also keeps Balboa’s staff and kitchen humming to ensure guests enjoy a smooth, seamless experience.

The Local: Since 2014, this community-building newspaper has created memorable events in unique locations, highlighting neighborhood businesses, resources, and personalities:

Hohenadel House (Sept 2014) — ticketed dinner & “reveal” for restoration of historic brewer’s mansion, including a reproduction of the brand’s original 19th century lager.

Miami Days & Nights (July 2017) — an open house event showcasing Alden Park Apartments‘ renovations, including local vendors, tours, music, classic cars, and more.

Art & Architecture (Sept 2017) — local collector’s “Friends of Barnes” exhibit in St. James Church, a National historic landmark. With refreshments and wine by Moore Brothers.

East Falls Oktoberfest (Sept 2016 & 2017) — a Bavarian celebration at Undine Rowing Club’s 1850’s boathouse designed by Frank Furness.

With thousands of highly-engaged followers across social media and in print, they bring voice and reach across a wide demographic. They also distribute custom content to other Philly news sources and influencers.
